Hearts defender Boampong undergoes op

Hearts of Oak defender Philip Boampong has undergone a successful operation on his broken right wrist.

The central defender suffered the injury during the first half of the season but look set to recover after the surgery at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

The 21-yearold was initially scheduled to travel to South Africa for the surgery but doctors in the capital were able to operate on it.

He becomes the third Hearts player to undergo surgery in less than a year after midfield duo Kofi Abanga and Godwin Quarshigah.

Boampong was member of Ghana’s Under-20 side that won the Fifa U-20 World Championship in Egypt.

He is the younger brother of former Hearts defender Dan Coleman and joined the Phobians in 2009.
