Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will play a ceremonial match this afternoon to commemorate the May 9 Stadium disaster with reserve players.

126 soccer fans perished at the Accra Sport Stadium in a league match involving the two sides ten-year ago in what has been deemed as Africa’s worst football calamity.

With the premier league expected to resume on 18 May, the two sides will play with some players of the youth team, old players and staff of their secretariat.

"We have made arrangement to have some players of the youth, few old ones and about four staff from the secretariat play in the game. The idea is to create fun among the fans and send the message that never again should this happened in our football history," Hearts PRO Albert Commey said.
