Ex-Asante Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah has taken a swipe at past and present regimes of doing little to support victims of the May 9 disaster as the country marks 10 years of Africa's worst football tragedy.

126 soccer fans lost their lives during a Premier League match involving arch-rivals Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

Police officers fired tear-gas into the stand to disperse rampaging supporters of both teams after Hearts rallied from a goal down to win 2-1.

Millions of Ghana cedis were realized from donations and contributions from corporate oganisations, individuals and the past government.

But ten years down memory lane and the families of the victims are struggling to cater for the children of the deceased.

Mensah, who was then in-charge at Kotoko, believes much can be done.

"I do know that lots of monies were realized but unfortunately nobody seems to know what they were used for. I’m told some of the families are given a paltry 100 Ghana cedis a year to cater for the children of the deceased," Mensah said

"It’s unfortunate both the past and present governments have failed in their responsibility to the victims and their dependants
