In-form Young Boys and Black Stars defender Kassim Nuhu says his maiden Ghana call up has come at the right time insisting he deserved the invite.

Kassim Nuhu, one of the four players handed their maiden Black Stars call up by coach Kwasi Appiah ahead of Ghana's 2018 World Cup Qualifier with the Cranes of Uganda and a friendly with the Saudi Arabia national team.

The 23 year old roly-poly defender who has been in top shape for his side in the Swiss Super League told Ghanasoccernet.com in an interview that his call up couldn't have come at any better time than now.

"It's a major privilege to have been handed a call up into the adored Black Stars. Ghana is spoilt for choice when it comes to talent but the coach decided to hand me a call-up and that is not surprising.

"I think I am doing at good job with my club Young Boys in Switzerland that is why I was called and it's deserving," Kassim told West Africa's leading football website Ghanasoccernet.com

The intelligent center back who has weaved his way into the hearts of the club's fans said he has always been in top shape but he believes the timing for his call up could only be now.

"As a Muslim, I believe that there is time for everything. At Real Mallorca, I was regularly playing but I think the coaches believe this is the time they need me."

Kassim was an unused substitute in Ghana's 0-0 stalemate with the Cranes of Uganda at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, Kampala but is expected to make his debut appearance for the West Africans in their friendly with Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
