Ghana striker Isaac Boakye scored thrice for Valerenga in their 12-1 thrashing of lower division side Oldenborg in the Norwegian Norgesmesters Cupen.

The former Nurnberg striker set the tone for a memorable afternoon for Valerenga when he shot home the lead just after five minutes.

Nigerian midfielder Fegor Ogude, Luton Shelton and Mohammed Fellah scored four goals within 37 minutes before Boakye scored the sixth goal and personal second.

The 29-year-old hammered home the eighth goal in the 63rd minute.

Valerenga added four goals with the hosts scoring a consolation with six minutes remaining.

Boakye who has aimed at reinvigorating his tattered career in Norway has now scored four goals for the club he joined last two months ago.
