Ghana international defender Jonathan Mensah has described his goal as 'lucky' and insisted Evian Thonon Gaillard's victory is what matters.Â
The 24-year-old scored just after the half-hour mark and defended gallantly at the Parc des Sports.
Cédric Barbosa pulled a training-ground free-kick back to the edge of the penalty area and Mensah thrashed the ball toward goal first-time. His initial attempt was blocked but landed kindly, and the big Ghanaian was on hand to thump home past Wylan Cyprien to make it 2-0.
"It's great. I'm lucky on my goal but it's the three points that count," he said in the post match interview.
"We must continue to go on Good spells of performance."
Mensah's goal proved to be the match winner as Yoann Touzghar halved the deficit for Lens.
