Ghana Premier League new comers Karela United have warned Kumasi Asante Kotoko to stay off offensive midfielder Maxwell Baako, who has become a transfer interest for the Porcupine Warriors.

According information gathered by Ghanasoccernet.com, the Reds sent in a request for the player but Karela United insists the former Wa All Stars forward is not for sale until the end of the season.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, Director of Communications for the club Eric Alagidede revealed Kotoko have contacted them over the sale of Baako.

"Asante Kotoko wrote to us officially on Maxwell Baako which was discussed at management level and we have replied appropriately so it's not true we are reporting them to the FA," he said.

"After deliberating on their letter,we have communicated to them he is not leaving till after the season where we can give it a thought."

"At least by that time we would have known our position on the league log whether we are staying or leaving the top flight."

Baako has been a sensation for the new comers, playing an influential role in the club's giants killing feat.

Karela United defeated both Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the Zylofon Cash Premier League this season.
