Karim Zito has quit as the head coach of Ghana Premier League side BA Stars and attributed his decision to the lack of dressing room support, GHANAsoccernet can confirm.

Zito claims his efforts were being thwarted by some senior players he describes as ''saboteurs.''

His side's 0-2 defeat to Liberty Professionals on Sunday pushed him to resign.

"There is sabotage in the team especially the old players and so I thought it wise to call it quit and move on," Zito said.

"When I tell them to be disciplined, they do the exact opposite and so I told them if they didn't win the game against Liberty on Sunday, I was going to leave them. There is no peace in the team and that has been the problem with the team.

"I don’t even have reserve defenders in the team because they always tell you they are sick only for you to hear they’re playing football in the backyard."

Zito was talked out of a threat to quit in the middle of the season for what he perceived as a deliberate attempt by some officials to frustrate his team.

BA Stars, in their debut season, are placed at the foot of the table with 11 points from 18 matches.
