Kotoko dismiss Toure suspension reports

Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko have denied reports of the suspension of striker Ahmed Toure.

The 24-year-old is facing disciplinary action after overstaying a two-week compassionate leave granted him to visit his ailing mother in his native Cote d'Ivoire.

Last season's Premier League MVP has since his arrival in Kumasi last Thursday been barred from taking part in training until a definite decision is taken.

“Reports circulating in the media that Toure has been suspended for a month is not true,” Kotoko’s Public and Supporters Relations Manager Listowell Bukarson told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“A meeting was held yesterday (Monday) between management and the technically team where he (Toure) was discussed but a decision is yet to be made.

“Management has resolved to write an official query to the player where he is expected to respond within 48 hours before a decision will be arrived at.

“He will however continue not to train with the first team until his issue is resolved.”

The development means the Ivorian will is definitely out of the mid-week clash with Aduana in Dormaa.

Kotoko has however managed to extend its lead at the summit of the Premier League without Toure.

They are now six points clear off rivals Hearts of Oak ahead of matchday 18.
