The Asante Kotoko team has visited injured Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy at his residence in Accra.

The delegation comprising of Executive Chairman Dr K.K Sarpong, coach Maxwell Konadu, the players and other officials were led by Alhaji Hearts to meet the injured goalkeeper in Kotobabi where the team presented a signed ‘get-well-soon’ card.

Dr. Sarpong and coach Maxwell Konadu also presented unspecified amount of monies to the 28-year-old’s recovery.

The ex Fetteh Feyenoord player broke his finger during Hearts’ 2-1 loss to Kotoko in the big Ghanaian derby last weekend in Kumasi.

McCarthy had thwarted several efforts by the Porcupine Warriors to extend their then 1-0 lead but came out worst off after saving a goal-bound shot by Daniel Nii Adjei.

He was immediately withdrawn amidst uncontrollable tears and was replaced by Sammy Adjei who also initially pulled off stellar saves.

But Kotoko restored their lead second to the end of the game after Mahatma Otoo had pulled the Phobians even through a well struck free kick with a superb long range strike by diminutive Micgael Akuffo.

The win extends Kotoko’s lead to twelve points at the summit of the Glo Premier League with six matches left to play.

They will be looking to maintain their 12-match unbeaten run when they play relegation-threatened Mighty Jets on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
