Asante Kotoko owner and life patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has denied widespread claims he is a staunch supporter of rival club Hearts of Oak.

The Ashanti monarch has been accused of being a subtle supporter of the Accra-based side for many years.

But the well-respected Ghanaian King has finally opened up on the constant accusations, rejecting the claims as complete false.

''I knew nothing about football and I have heard people complain that I am staunch supporter of Hearts of Oak, meanwhile I was living abroad and if not for the virtue of being Asantehene, I would not have gotten close to Kotoko and football," he said

"As I sit here I do not even know much about football rules and how it's played but Kotoko is part of the legacy I inherited and I am obliged to ensure the team achieve success."

Kotoko officials and players visited the Royal Highness in Kumasi to present the Ghana FA Cup crown to him on Wednesday.
