Kudjoe Fianoo: "We have let Ghanaians down"

Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Kudjoe Fianoo has conceded that the football people in the country have disappointed advocates of the local game following disclosures in the premiered Anas Aremeyaw expose on corruption in the sporting fraternity.

The exposé, which was premiered at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, captured the Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, among many other officials of the nation’s football governing body and match officials who influence the outcome of games, influence selection of players and divert funds meant for sponsorship, but the likes of J.F Mensah and Kweku Eyiah passed the test by rejecting the monies given them as bribes.

“We must be the first to admit that we have let Ghanaians down. It’s sad that someone will struggle to get money to go and watch a match, only for an individual to decide the results," Citi TV’s 'The Point of View'.

"This is a very bad day for Ghana football. It’s very shameful. What I watched was disgusting.”

Fianoo agrees with that line of action and has charged club owners and officials to be at the forefront of the rebirth of the Ghana Football Association.

“GHALCA has the capacity to salvage what’s left of football in Ghana. The investors must find the time to come together to do this.

"It took the junior officers of the military to do house cleaning on June 4, 1979. It’s now time for us to make sure that the corrupt people get out of the football industry.”
