Lawal Abdul Ganiyu is fit to contest the Eastern Regional Football Association's chairmanship slot, the Elections Committee of the Ghana Football Association has ruled.

The incumbent had been accused of constituting his own delegates list ahead of Friday's polls.

However the EC ruled there is no truth in the allegations since there are laid down procedures in acquiring delegates list.

If even true, the EC had no powers to disqualify the candidate on the basis of misconduct because it is out of its remit.

It is only the Executive Committe which has the power to disqualify a candidate on grounds of misconduct with the subsequent approval of Congress.

Lawal will now battle Nana Kwadwo Budu II in his bid to retain his Executive Committee seat.
