Deputy coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has urged Asante Kotoko to improve their squad ahead of next season's CAF Confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors had a torrid season last term where they finished 5th on the standings.

But the club managed to finish the season with a flourish following their 3-1 victory over bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak in the FA Cup finals, which automatically qualifies them to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

Konadu, who guided the Porcupine Warriors to the 2012 Ghana Premier League title, believes the current crop of players in the club's fold will not be enough for them to make any meaningful impact in the continent's second-tier club competition.

“Yes, they can compete and make an impact in Africa, but first they have to beef-up their current squad. Against Kotoko, they played better than what we have been seeing of late, especially in the first half. They need to beef up the squad and make sure that the quality of the team is much higher than this."

Management of the club have given the playing body a three-week break after last Sunday's remarkable victory over Hearts of Oak at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
