Maxwell Konadu has given his coaching career a huge boost after winning the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations.

The former Asante Kotoko coach was pilloried for failing to qualify the home-based national team for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

It was the second successive time that ex-international had failed to secure qualification for the tournament.

Critics wanted him axed but he hatched the plan to win the just ended sub-regional tournament and it was a huge 4-1 win over rivals Nigeria in the final.

The magnitude and nature of the win have earned him some respite and now among the elite class of coaches to win domestic and international titles.

Konadu has won two Ghana Premier League titles with Asante Kotoko and reached the final of the 2014 African Nations Championship.

He won the 2013 WAFU Cup of Nations, also on home soil.
