The MTN FA Cup Committee has distanced itself from allegations that there are plans to assist giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to reach the final of this year's competition.

All two semi-final matches will be played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, 1 October, 2017.

Hearts of Oak will face Wa All Stars in the first match with Asante Kotoko engaging Medeama later on.

There are reports that the Committee wants the two biggest clubs to advance and set up a titanic clash for the final to be played in Tamale.

But that has been dispelled by the chairman of the FA Cup Committee Kurt E.S Okraku.

''A global company like MTN will not invest this huge amount of money in a product of the FA if it didn’t have the credibility,'' he has been quoted by FootballMadeInGhana.com.

''Where were these reports when Nania FC, a team from the lower tier won this competition in just the first year of its resurrection?

''Were Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko not part of this competition when Medeama won this competition twice?

''If such a conspiracy exists, why is it that Hearts of Oak and Kotoko are not in the finals every year?

''Past chairmen of the FA Cup Committee have clubs. Indeed, I own a football club so how come I have not been able to influence situations to help my team go past even the preliminary stages?

''These are the things that hurt Ghana football and I will advice those propagating such falsehood to put a stop to it.

''We must not poison the minds of the very people we expect to patronize our games and therefore this falsehood must stop.''
