New Edubiase CEO: I have been approached to fix matches

New Edubiase CEO Abdul Salam Yakubu says he has been approached several times to fix matches in the Ghana top-flight.

While insisting that he can't be compromised, Yakubu will not reveal the names of those who approached him so that they can be prosecuted and punished.

The controversial figure refused to reveal the identities of those who approached him to fix the game.

There is suspicion in Ghana that some matches are fixed especially when the league is coming to an end.

With the final matches scheduled to take place this weekend with three clubs fighting to beat the drop, New Edubiase hold the key to the survival of some clubs.

Mighty Jets must beat Berekum Chelsea on Sunday to have any chance of surviving while Berekum Arsenal must also defeat Hearts in Accra to avoid relegation.

But Bechem United's fate will travel to face New Edubiase and they must also avoid defeat to beat the drop.

Yakubu, who is known for making controversial statements, says he has been approached to fix results of matches.

"I have been approached to fix matches but that doesn't mean - yes I have been approached," Yakubu told Asempa FM.

"The fact that I have been approached doesn't mean I ceded to their request. I can't be compromised.

When pressed to reveal the identities of those who approached him Yakubu said: "I won't reveal the names of those approached me."

Earlier in the season Yakubu was hauled before the Ethics Committee of the GFA to answer questions over some controversial statements.
