Rwanda leader Paul Kagame has assured CAF President Ahmad of his unflinching support in carrying out the much-needed reforms to improve the game in Africa.

The President of the East African country made this pledge in Kigali on Monday evening when the CAF boss visited the Presidential Palace to end his three-day official visit of the country.

Ahmad was on his first official visit to Rwanda since securing the shock election victory last year over the long-standing Issa Hayatou to become the head of African football’s governing body.

The Malagasy arrived in Rwanda on Saturday on an official three-visit to inspect development of football in the country and hold talks with Rwanda Football Federation.

Ahmad was accompanied by Minister of Sports and Culture, Madam UWacu Juliene, the president of Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) Nzamwita Vincent and CAF Presidential Advisors Hedi Hamel and Loic Gerand on the visit to the Presidency on Monday night.

The CAF boss paid tribute a glowing to President Kagame’s passion and love for football, particularly commending him for his continued financial support toward the regional CECAFA Kagame Cup competition that attracts top clubs from more than 10 regional countries in East Africa.

He also thanked him for the support accorded to him during the elections of the CAF Presidency last year that helped him secured the landslide victory over Hayatou.

President Kagame assured Ahmad his support towards his mandate of bringing changes and reforms to the African football body as well as developing African football (youth and women).

Ahamd ended his three-day official visit to Rwanda on Monday night after visiting Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre on Sunday.

He also attended the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) held at Kigali Convention Centre in the capital Kigali.

President Ahmad donated $2000 to go into the maintenance of the centre and in their campaign of continuous genocide prevention and the fight against genocidal ideology.

Alongside Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) president Vincent Nzamwita, CAF President Ahmad met and held talks with the Minister of Sports and Culture Uwacu Julienne.

On Monday, the CAF President attended the Forum organized by the African Union of Broadcasting.

At the African Union of Broadcasting Forum, President Ahmad also held talks with Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community, Mme. Louise Mushikiwabo.
