Qualification concerns emerge over Fianoo's GFA position quest

Fresh concerns over Cudjoe Fianoo’s quest to become the general secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have emerged as he is been named in the eight-man shortlist even though he doesn't meet the minimum academic requirements.

Fianoo, who is the CEO of AshGold FC, is a member of the executive committee of GFA – the body which decides on who becomes the next GFA secretary general.

As the interviewing panel for the post is decided by the executive committee, Fianoo is playing the referee and player at the same.

Serious conflict of interest issues has already been raised over his quest to run for the post.

Concerns of favouritism have arisen as he doesn't have the necessary minimum academic qualifications for the post yet he has been shortlisted to contest.

The GFA set first degree as minimum qualification for the post but under suspicious circumstances his Diploma of Journalism has managed to get him a place in the eight-man shortlist.

GFA deputy general secretary Isaac Addo, Kurt Okraku and Cudjoe Fianoo are the leading candidates for the job even though eight candidates are in the hunt for the post to be vacated by Kofi Nsiah.

Fianoo wields an unfair advantage over the other contestants if he continues to occupy his position on the executive committee.

Both Addo and Okraku hold second degree while Fianoo has a diploma from the Ghana Institute of Journalism

Okraku, who holds an MBA in Football Administration from the prestigious Liverpool University in the UK, is the favourite for the job.

Addo also hold a masters degree from Hull University in the UK

Fianoo is also tipped by the experts for the job because of his long association of football administration in Ghana.

His highest academic qualification is a Diploma in Journalism which leaves him behind Addo and Okraku but his experience in the game will count in his favour.

The current term of Ghana FA scribe Kofi Nsiah comes to an end and his stay will not be extended.
