Rahim Ayew reaches agreement with Belgian side Lierse

Ghana midfielder Ibrahim 'Rahim' Ayew has reached an agreement on his personal terms to join Belgian side Lierse after impressing during their training tour of Egypt.

He is expected to sign a deal next week.

But the Belgian side will have to reach deal with his club Zamalek before Ayew can seal the move.

Zamalek turned down a US$50,000 offer to grab Ayew but negotiations are still continuing Lierse are keen on grabbing the Ghanaian utility player.

“Lierse reached a verbal agreement with the Ghanaian Ibrahim Ayew,” Lierse said in an official statement.

“Ayew trained with the squad at their training camp in Egypt last week and impressed the coaching staff.

“The contract will be officially signed in the next few days.”

He will consider the move to Finland if the Belgium deal falls through.

Ayew has not played competitively for Zamalek since Hossam Hassan took over as the coach of the Whites despite the youngster being part of Ghana’s World Cup and Nations Cup team.

Lierse is owned by an Egyptian businessman who signs players from the Egyptian league for the market in Europe.

Ayew played his first match for Belgian side Lierse during their training tour of Egypt last week.

He played the entire duration of their friendly against Wadi Degla as they beat their Egyptian counterparts 1-0 on Monday.

Ayew played in the first half as a right-back and playing in the midfield after the break.
