Ghana youth striker Samuel Afum scored a 60th minute winner for FC Smouha in their 2-1 win over El Masry 2-1 on Wednesday to boost their relegation chances in Egypt.

Afum, who turned 21 last week, rescued the Alexandria-based club by scoring the match winner after Burkina Faso international Abdoulaye Cisse scored on the 49th minute to defray Mohamed Nasr's opener.

Smouha moved from the base to third bottom and are now five points adrift safety.

The club must win all remaining three matches to stay in the Egyptian Premier League.

Afum is the club's joint top scorer with 7 goals.
