Video: Sulley Muntari backs rookie Dominic Oduro

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has backed rookie Dominic Oduro to become a Black Stars regular.

The Chicago Fire ace was handed a starting role on his debut against Chile in an international friendly on Wednesday but was substituted after 17 minutes.

There are fears his cameo will affect his national team chances.

But Muntari has jumped to his defence and claims the 26-year-old has the qualities to become a member of the team.

"I hope he'll continue to contribute to our national team. He is getting to be well known, because he is a very good player," the AC Milan ace told the Ghana FA official website.

If he met the expectations of the technical team, he could be handed more playing time for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers which will be played this year.

Oduro scored 12 goals in 33 appearances for Chicago Fire in the 2011 MLS season.
