Sulley Muntari captains Ghana for South Korea friendly

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has been handed the captain band in Tuesday's international friendly against South Korea.

Head coach Goran Stevanovic chose the Inter Milan player because substantive captain John Mensah has been ruled out of the game after suffering a knock during Friday’s clash against Congo.

His permanent assistant Michael Essien will also not be available for the game after being excused for the trip to the Asian country.

Muntari last captained Ghana in an exhibition game against Bosnia and Herzegovina last year under coach Milovan Rajevac.

He beat goalkeeper Richard Kingson and John Paintsil to the leadership role of the team.

Kingson captained the side in the absence of Mensah and Essien at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
