Ghana schemer Sulley Muntari is hoping that fellow Sunderland loanee Danny Welbeck will opt for an international future with the Black Stars.

The Manchester United youngster, born in London to Ghanaian parents, has represented England from Under-17 to 21 levels, but has now been approached by Ghana.

Muntari, on loan with the Black Cats from Inter Milan, said: “I am sure that Danny has an international future ahead of him.

“He is very young, but is already very strong.

“He will be one of the top players in England.”

Muntari, in the Black Stars’ squad to play England on March 29, added: “I haven’t spoken to him about Ghana, but who wouldn’t want his quality.”
