Sunderland coach still keen on signing Sulley Muntari

Coach Steve Bruce is still hopeful of adding Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari to Sunderland's squad in the January transfer window.

The Black Cats have been linked with bringing Muntari and Benin star Stephane Sessegnon to the Stadium of Light on short-term deals.

As Bruce looks to add depth to his squad for the remainder of the season Muntari has pointed out that he wants to play for London club.

But the Premier League outfit remain confident of landing the duo on loan, but the final say rests with the parent clubs - with PSG keen to keep Sessegnon, while Inter Milan are only looking to offload Muntari permanently.

Bruce, though, is relaxed about landing the two players and told The Chronicle: "We are interested in them both and would love to bring them here.

"I think they would delight our fans and they would improve the squad.

"However, if the moves do not come off we will accept that and move on.

"From next month we should be getting close to full strength again, so it is not as if we are desperate."
