Talks underway with new Ghana coach Stevanovic over contract

The Ghana Football Association has started negotiations with Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic over his terms of contract as Ghana coach, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Talks started at 1230GMT on Monday over a proposed two-year contract for the former Partizan Belgrade boss to take over the World Cup quarter-finalists.

Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal that a deal could be reach by 1600 GMT for the Serbian to be named at the new Black Stars coach.

He arrived in Ghana to negotiate terms of contract after he emerged victorious following interviews with shortlisted coaches for the vacant post.

GFA insiders says they will discuss his salary, bonuses and plans to help the Black Stars qualify for the 2012 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The monthly salary of the Serbian is not yet known but it is not expected to exceeed the amount received by his pre-desuccor Milovan Rajevac.

If he reaches an agreement with the GFA, Stevanovic will take over from his compatriot Milovan Rajevac who resigned after taking Ghana to the brink of a semi-final place at last year’s world cup in South Africa .

His first competitive game in charge will be a trip to Brazzaville to play Congo in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier if a deal is reached.
