Tension brews in Evalue-Gwira NDC-

Information gathered indicate that all is not well for the rank and file of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch of the Evalue- Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency in the Western Region as incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Madam Catherine Ablema Afeku is rated to retain her seat for the second time ahead of the 2012 Parliamentary polls, according to some executives of NDC in the area.

Currently, some of the Party Executive Members of the NDC in the area are in total disarray, when a research report conducted by a consultancy firm which was hired to engage a survey aimed at analysing the chances of the NDC in the area proved that the incumbent MP for the area on the ticket of opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Afeku is on top of the chart and is poised to convincingly win the seat as against her main contender Mr. Kweku Tanikyi Kesseh, the NDC’s aspirant.

The report which is yet to be presented to the authorities of the party in the constituency revealed that Madam Afeku is going to win with a wide margin of percentage therefore leaving behind her opponent with a shocking result.

She was noted to be the favourite among her contenders and is set to win massively which would become a history in the politics of Nzema; thus being the first female Member of Parliament (MP) to win her seat back-back.

According to sources who is close to the quarters of the Constituency office of the NDC in the area, Madam Afeku’s candidacy has posed as a big threat to the party over the past one year in the Constituency where she is found to be known in every corner of the constituency regarding her good work done.

“We are not sure if our aspirant if he a marketable material in the area; since he is not known by the people and it’s a big threat to the party and it is time that something should be done immediately to avoid the party from losing the second time regarding the parliamentary seat” it added.

The depressed Executive Member also maintained that the candidacy of the NDC aspirant cannot be matched with that of Madam Afeku who has marketed herself throughout the length and breadth of the constituency over the years, as compared to the NDC’s man who is not even known by the people of Axim and its environs.

“Despite all efforts made to derail Madam Afeku’s image and chances from wining the seat which has proved futile since she is always liked even the more we mount strategies against through the media to silence her but she still maintain strong”.

The leadership of the party in the regional and national level were called upon to immediately sermon the candidate and his team in other to beef up their campaign strategies to win massively for both presidency and the parliamentary seat.

Meanwhile, checks from the office of the incumbent MP in Axim, indicates that her team is really working hard in other to help her win the seat for the second time.

An official who pleaded for anonymity called on the people to access the good work of the MP when she was given the mandate to represent them in Parliament, since her records speaks for itself and promised of Madam Afeku’s continues dedication to serve the people of Evalue, Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency ahead of the December Polls.

This reporter was told that the good people of Ghana and Nzema have realized that the NDC Government has nothing to offer and it is time they make the decision by voting them out as well as maintain all sitting MPs from the NPP.

In another development, this reporter has gathered that there plans to side-line the MP ahead of the annual Kundum Festival of the people of Axim with reasons best known to the organizers.
