Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Elvis Manu highlighted his superior form for Feyenoord by striking the match-winner in their 2-1 win over Standard Liege in the Uefa Champions League on Thursday night. 

The 21-year-old netted what proved to be the winner for Fred Rutten's men at the Stadion Feijenoord with just six minutes left to play to make a huge statement about his influence on Feyenoord's season.

After missing a double of glorious opportunities in the first-half and second-halves, Manu made things up for Feynorrd and put the ball into the net through a crowded box. He artfully controlled the ball inside the Liege box where there were a forest of legs but he managed to force a drive through to win the tie for Feyenoord.

Black Stars winger Christian Atsu was handed a starting role by Everton manager Roberto Martinez and he lasted until the start of the second-half at the Stadion Kuban'.

In an interesting Group I fixture, Swiss side Young Boys BSC slipped to a 3-1 away loss at Sparta Praha. Former Accra Hearts of Oak attacker Samuel Afum was introduced in the 69th minute by Boys who were vanquished.

Rio Ave suffered their second straight defeat of the competition after losing 1-0 at Danish side AaB. Ghanaian pair of Alhassan Wakaso and Emmanuel Boateng both started the game for Rio. But Boateng was subbed in the 74th minute and Wakaso completed the game.

Belgian-born Denis Odoi played the entire duration of the game for Lokeren who managed a slim 1-0 win over Ukrainian side Metalist. There was no Eugene Ansah in the Lokeren team for the game. 

Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris started and completed the game for Trabzonspor but he fired blank in Trabzonspor's 1-0 home reverse against Polish side Legia Warsaw.

Club Brugge trounced HJK Helsinki 3-0 at their own backyard. Ghanaian pair of Gideon Baah and Anthony Annan played full throttle for the Finnish side who are without a point from their opening two games in Group B.

Astra Giurgui have dropped to the bottom of Group D after suffering a 2-1 home against Red Bull Salzburg. Ex-Ghana U17 striker Sadat Bukari lasted the entire 90 minutes of the game for Astra but midfielder Seidu Yahaya was unused by Astra in the game.

Winger Wakaso Mubarak played 78 minutes for Celtic who scrapped all the three points available by beating Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 at the Celtic Park. The Rubin Kazan' loanee was replaced in the Leigh Griffiths.
