Uganda coach Milutin Sredojevic is delighted with the way his players neutralized the threat of Ghana in Saturday’s opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations draw played in Kumasi.
The Cranes held the star-studded Black Stars to a 1-1 draw, taking a vital away point in the process.
Uganda shot into the lead a minute to halftime through Tonny Mawejje but Ghana equalized six minutes into the second half with an Andre Ayew penalty.
The Cranes were unlucky to have jumped into the lead once more again during the second half.
Their impressive display won over the Ghanaian fans who applauded whenever they strung silky passes together.
The Cranes’ excellent pressing game – pushing the Ghanaian attack back – won the praises of their Serbian trainer Milutin Sredojevic.
“Only two balls came into the box for Asamoah Gyan so we managed to limit the balls and that is good,†he said.
“My players played well to push Ghana back, making it difficult for their talented players to come forward and because of that they got tired.â€
