Valencia To Approach Getafe With Offer For Midfielder Derek Boateng - reports

Published on: 07 January 2011

Valencia will approach Getafe at the end of the current transfer window to enquire about the availability of midfielder Derek Boateng, Goal.com has reported.

Goal.com Spain revealed that Los Che coach Unai Emery is already building his squad for next season, and has pinpointed the Ghanaian international as the midfield enforcer to take his team to the next level.

The Mestalla giants have already secured the purchase of French international Adil Rami from Lille, and are closing in on another Ligue 1 talent Kevin Gameiro from Lorient.

Boateng is Emery’s next target, and although there has been no contact between the parties as yet, Valencia will approach the Azulones this month to ascertain the availability of the 27-year-old and set a valuation.

The former Koeln and Panathinaikos man moved to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in 2009 and is contracted until the summer of 2013, but would be enticed by the challenge of playing for a team competing for the Champions League positions in the Primera Division.

Getafe president Angel Torres is likely to back coach Michel and attempt to ward off any interest for one of the club's key performers.
