Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan scored both goals to help Al Ain record a 2-1 win over Emirates club in the UAE Pro League on Thursday afternoon.
Gyan shot the title-holders ahead in the 56th minute before netting from the penalty spot in the 67th minute to hand them all three points from the game at the Emirates Club Stadium.
The former Sunderland man timed his run for connect home a low-cross 11 minutes after the break but an unpardonable howler by Ain keeper Dawoud Sulaiman allowed the host to equalise.
But three minutes later, Gyan restored Ain's lead by converting a penalty kick.
Ain had been without victory in domestic football since their 3-0 thrashing of Dubai FC in early February but for Gyan, he has maintained his impressive scoring run in both continental and domestic games, scoring 6 times from his last 4 games in all competitions.
He has now taken his league tally to 21 goals 21 games.
