The city of Mongomo where Ghana will be based during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea is undergoing a massive and speedy facelift ahead of next month's tournament.

The stadium in Mongomo, where Ghana will be based for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, has brought in a new playing pitch which is imported from Spain for the competition.

There were fears that they would not be able to meet the deadline for the tournament to start but new video suggests they are working hard to meet the deadline.

Caf’s director of communications, Junior Biyam said: “Training venues and competition fields will be of standard not later than January 7 – ten days before the kick-off of the [Afcon] competition.”

“Everything will be in place and lawns will be up to standard.

“We will need two weeks to make them [new lawns] usable.”

Last minute hosts Equatorial Guinea has consulted a Fifa expert in management of lawns and has approved the decision to relay the pitch.

Group C will be point of attraction with Ghana, Senegal, Algeria and South Africa housed in the pool.

Matches in the Group of Death will start two days after the opening day on 17 January in Malabo.
