Wa All Stars captain Hafiz Adams says injuries but not the sacking of coach Enos Adepa contributed to the club's unsuccessful title defence.

The Northern Blues ended the season in sixth place.

They also suffered elimination from the CAF Champions League qualifying round.

''Before the season started we had a lot of injury problems, I was also a victim as six of our players were in the injury list. That led to our poor performance in the Champions league, we lost at home and went away and lost,'' Adams told footballmadeinghana.com

''You don’t expect the team to play at the same level when 6-7 players are out, we wanted to finish in the top four, but things didn’t go our away.

''I don’t think the sacking of Enos Adepa caused anything, he started the season with us, it was this latter stages that he was asked to step aside.''
