"We didn't deserve to lose"-Ghana assistant coach

Ghana assistant coach Akwesi Appiah claims his side put in much work to deserve a 2-1 defeat to South Korea on Tuesday night at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

The Black Stars conceded in stoppage time thanks to a Koo Ja-Cheol goal off a rebound to hand the 2010 Fifa World Cup quarter-finalists their first since July last year against Uruguay.

Ghana, without the services of six key players, went down in the 12th minute goal when Ji Dong-won headed a corner into the Ghana net through the hands of goalkeeper Kingson.

Striker Asamoah Gyan atoned for a first half spot-kick miss and drew level on 65th minutes after being teed up by captain Sulley Muntari.

Appiah believes the score line did not tell the story.

"The match was very competitive but I think we didn't deserve to lose ," Appiah said in a post-match interview.

''Looking at the way we played they (South Koreans) know we should have won but football doesn't tell the truth and it's just unfortunate that they got a goal in the last two minutes,’’ He added.
