TP Mazembe winger Solomon Asante could not join his Ghana team-mates for training on Wednesday as the Black Stars opened their 2015 AFCON training in Accra.

The pocket-size wing-wizard was not part of the 16 players who trained at the Lizzy's Sports Complex due a stomach upset.

However, he officially communicated his situation to the team handlers and given time to officially recover before joining his colleagues in training.

"I could not appear for training because of a stomach upset I experienced but I have had medication and hope to join them soon," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Asante, who returned to the Black Stars squad after the 2014 World Cup, has been in good shape and started games ahead of Everton's Christian Atsu.

He is widely tipped to make the final 23-man squad for the AFCON tournament which kicks start on January 17 in Equatorial Guinea.
