2017 McDan Unity Cup: Kwame Kizito powers La to victory over Tema

Kwame Kizito was the toast of fans at the La Town Park on Sunday when he scored the lone goal for La Town XI against Tema at the grand finale of the 2017 McDan Ga Adangbe Unity.

The Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars Team B striker showed the difference between him and other players as he superbly struck the goal for hosts, La at the La Town Park.

The final match lived up to expectation with Tema dominating in the first half, but the homesters came back strongly in the second half and with the vociferous fans behind them, managed to find the winner through Sweden bound Kizito.

He told the media in an interview that the goal was very important and dedicated it to the football fans of La.

La who featured local Black Stars skipper Isaac Twum previously this time came with star players like Samuel Sarfo of Liberty Professionals, Samuel Bekoe of Inter Allies, Ashitey Ollenu of Asante Kotoko and Samudeen Ibrahim of Hearts of Oak.

Tema paraded a strong youthful squad with names like Nerrick Tetteh, Randy Anthony and Simon Martey.

Captain of Tema, Nii Kraku Ali said the better side won though they dominated the game. He commended Dr. Mckorley for coming up with the Unity Games as it has brought many people together and created entertainment for the people of La.

Samuel Sarfo Maldini of Liberty Professionals and La said the game was very technical, with the best team taking home the giant cup and cash prize.

Eight teams begun the tournament, namely; Ga Mashie, La, Tema, Nungua, Teshie, Tema, Ada and Prampram.

Winners, La XI also took the Best Goal Keeper and Goal King prizes.

The final match attracted a large crowd including personalities like former President J.J. Rawlings,Tsuru, Amarkai Amarteifio, La Manste - Nii Kpobi Tetteh Manste, Nii Kraku and former Black Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak players, Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Emmanuel Armah Senegal, Ablade Kumah and Emmanuel Armah Dida, coach of the Tema lads.

Football fans in La gave reason why they need an astro turf with flood lights, and Dr. Dan Mckorley promised to fulfil the promise.

The distinguished personality who has decided to contribute to Ghana’s development through sports said the tournament has come to stay and promises to be bigger with the contribution of other sponsors like Twillium Gh. Ltd.
