Ghana’s senior female national team the Black Queens rose from their opening day defeat to host nation Ivory Coast to whip an unfancied Niger side by 9-0 in the 2018 WAFU Nations Cup.

A brace each from Portia Boakye, Janet Egyir and Jane Ayieyam, and a goal each from Grace Asantewaa, Priscilla Okyere and Ruth Appiah demolished the Nigeriens who are yet to win a game in the competition.

Ghana will have to beat Burkina Faso in the last group game on Sunday to brighten their chances of qualifying to the semi-finals of the competition.

Ghana suffered a painful 1-0 defeat to host nation Ivory Coast in the opening game of the competition but the revival against Niger could spur them on the last group game against Burkina Faso.
