2019/20 Ghana Premier League: Week 2 Match Report - King Faisal Babes 0-1 AshantiGold SC

Published on: 05 January 2020

AshantiGold SC maintain their perfect start to the Ghana Premier League as they make it two wins out of two with a 1-0 win on Sunday.

Central defender Mubarik Yussif scored in the second consecutive game to give the Miners their first ever victory over King Faisal Babes at the Babayara stadium in Kumasi.

Anthony Commey made four changes to the home side as he handed Dauda Mohammed a debut against his former club.

Taufic Razak was also given his first start with Mohammed Lateef replacing Mujeeb Hakeem.

AshantiGold had just one change in their set up with Musah Mohammed replacing the injured Richard Osei Agyemang.

The first goal opportunity of the game fell the way of the visitors but Emmanuel Owusu's curling shot hit the crossbar.

Taufic Razak with a powerful left footed long drive forced goalkeeper Frank Boateng to make a great save to deny King Faisal.

On the stroke of halftime, Shafiu Mumuni came close to getting the opener as his header was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Alexander Osei Domfeh.

The hosts were reduced to ten men after goalkeeper Domfeh was sent off for handling the ball outside the box in the 70th minute.

Two minutes later defender Yussif broke the deadlock to put AshantiGold ahead with a sublime free-kick.

King Faisal tried to get back into the game but their efforts proved futile.
