Great Olympics proved their mettle to emerge victorious in a 4-3 thriller against King Faisal in Week 8 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

It was one of the most exciting games of the season as the match produced seven goals.

King Faisal had the better exchanges of the ball in the opening minutes but could not find the opener.

The game turned in favour of the Great Olympics as the Dade Boys made incursions from their quick counter attacking play.

Olympics soon found their tails up when referee Patrick Okyere awarded them a penalty in the 29th minute which was expertly scored by captain Emmanuel Clottey.

The visitors thought they had extended their advantage on the stroke of half time after Emmanuel Clottey’s fierce shot looked to have crossed the goal line but referee Okyere waved off their shout for the game to continue. Video Assistance Review (VAR) was certainly needed there.

Olympics came back from half time with the same energy and determination they exhibited in the first stanza before extending their advantage three minutes later. It was chief tormentor Emmanuel Clottey again.

But King Faisal were given a glimmer of hope in the 61st minute after referee Okyere handed them a penalty. Striker Osman Ibrahim made no mistake as he sent Olympics goalkeeper Joshua Opoku to wrong side of the post to make it 2-1.

The hosts hope of getting at least a point from the game was dented after they were reduced to 10 men. Referee Okyere brandish the red card to Patrick Barnor after the player appeared to have indulged in an unsporting behaviour.

King Faisal however regrouped and shockingly found the equalizer through Osman Ibrahim in the 69th minute.

Great Olympics regained their lead once again courtesy Yusif Razak’s superb goal in the 73rd minute.

King Faisal didn’t let their guard down as they quickly replied Olympics through Baba Yahaya’s 78th minute strike.

However, the Dade Boys once again fought back to regain their lead two minutes later. It was a sweet strike by deputy captain Gladson Awako.

Despite a late onslaught by King Faisal, the visitors held on to record their second win of the season.

The win propelled to 10th on the standings with 10 points while King Faisal languish at the bottom with  only 3 points after 8 games.
