Member of Parliament for Mpohor Constituency Alex Agyekum has questioned the desire of the Black Stars players after suffering a round of 16 exit at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Agyekum, the chairman of the parliamentary select committee on Sports, Youth and Culture, claims the players were not committed enough to win the tournament in Egypt.

Ghana were kicked out on Monday after losing 5-4 on penalties to Tunisia in Ismaila.

Agyekum has revealed he was not shocked the Black Stars got knocked out.

''Aside the government doing his part to help the team, If you look at the technical team, management and the playing body attitude and demeanor it seems we went there to add to the numbers, there was no urgency that, these players were going to win the cup for us,'' Hon Agyekum told Accra-based Atinka FM.

''We were in Ghana having a false hope that the Black Stars team was going to win the cup.

"If you look at the 24 teams who came to the AFCON tournament, and the matches I got the chance to watch, the demeanor of the other teams, from the blast of the whistle, the type of energy and the seriousness they attached to their play on the field, then you will know they mean business.

But when you look at our team from day one, you will see that our players were not serious.

"There was one instance that we had a corner, and if you look at how our player was walking unconcerned and how he was walking towards the ball, that is where I said to myself this team will fail us.

''We were lucky to have topped the group but to be honest it wasn’t the best of performance that got us there.''
