5th International LaLiga Promises Soccer Tournament Returns to Hoboken, NJ from June 28-30th

LaLiga today announced that their annual LaLiga Promises International Soccer Tournament will be hosted in Hoboken, New Jersey from June 28-30th, at the Sinatra Park Soccer Field. Organized with the Jose Ramon de la Morena Foundation, the tournament celebrates its 5th year with the best young professional clubs of LaLiga and other top international clubs in the Under 12-category.

LaLiga Promises was created with the purpose of promoting youth football and to claim all the positive values the sport represents, such as respect, effort, teamwork, and commitment- all while creating unforgettable experiences for the teams and players involved. The Promises tournament is the most prestigious tournament for this age group in the world and continues LaLiga’s commitment to growing soccer in the United States at the grassroots level.

LaLiga Promises is one of the most important projects we do in LaLiga -with Jose Ramon de la Morena Foundation- to promote the grow of soccer. This tournament in NJ is part of our commitment to grow soccer internationally, especially in the United States. LaLiga North America -joint venture between LaLiga and Relevent- is proactively working in the soccer growth and the grassroots development as part of our strategy in North America”, mentioned Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga.

16 international teams will be competing, in games that include 7 players on the field (including the goalkeeper) and last for 24 minutes total. The final games will be 20 minutes total with a 10-minute half time. Participating clubs include FC Barcelona, Valencia CF, Guadalajara, Atlético de Madrid, Villarreal CF, SL Benfica, Real Betis, Club America, Sevilla FC, RCD Espanyol, Inter, Liverpool FC, New York City FC, Real Madrid, Hoboken City FC, and will for the first time, welcome Guangzhou R&F from Guangdong in China.

The City of Hoboken hosted the 2018 LaLiga Promises tournament and looks forward to doing so again for 2019. Says Mayor Revinder Bhalla: “Hoboken is proud to once again host the LaLiga Promises tournament. There is no better place to host all of our international participants than on our beautiful waterfront. We’re pleased to help facilitate the growth of soccer here in Hoboken and across the country, and thank the Jose Ramon de la Morena Foundation and LaLiga for showcasing its talented players in our City.”

Games will begin at 9 AM ET on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, finishing with the final match on Sunday at 1 PM ET. All tournament games played on Field 1 will be broadcast live by Univision.

All fans will be admitted free of charge and are encouraged to support their favorite teams.
