AC Milan condemn allegations of tax evasion

Following reports emerging that Adriano Galliani, among others, was the subject of an investigation into tax evasion and false invoicing, AC Milan have released a statement condemning the allegations.

Italian police began to seize over €12 million worth of assets from 64 people within the sport on Tuesday morning, following the Naples public prosecutor’s office opening an investigation.

“The Naples prosecutor’s office decided today to issue Adriano Galliani with a termination notice regarding an event that is absolutely unfounded and without basis,” a Milan club statement read, acknowledging the investigation.

“According to tax legislation, the investigation will come to an end once all of the findings have been properly archived.”

As well as Galliani, Lazio‘s Claudio Lotito and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis are also reportedly under investigation.

It is thought that a number of players and top agents are also set to be looked into, with a total of 35 clubs from around the country under the spotlights.
