AC Milan striker set for Atletico Madrid move

Published on: 16 July 2018

Nikola Kalinic looks set to leave AC Milan after just one season, with reports indicating he will join Atletico Madrid in the coming hours.

The Croatian striker had a disappointing campaign for the Rossoneri, netting just six goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Things didn’t get any better this summer, as Kalinic was sent home from Croatia’s World Cup squad after refusing to enter the team’s group stage match against Nigeria.

As a result, it appears Kalinic will try to turn things around with a fresh start in La Liga, with Marca reporting he will join Atletico Madrid on loan with a â‚¬18 million obligation to buy.

It remains to be seen whether Milan will receive any funds for the loan, as they will no doubt try to recoup a fee close to the â‚¬25m they spent to sign the striker.
