Ghanaian side Accra Lions appoint experienced German Rainer Kraft as Sporting Director

Ambitious Ghanaian second tier side Accra Lions have boosted their technical team after appointing experienced German trainer Rainer Kraft as the club's new Sporting Director.

The East Legon-based side, who are gradually grooming the club to be a force in Ghanaian football, added the highly-respected coach to their backroom staff on Saturday.

The 57-year-old, who has previously worked with some of the biggest clubs in German top-flight, is expected to add to the already strong technical base of the club.

Kraft will be in charge of the major operations of the club and will work together French coach Bruno Ferry to steer the club to success next season.

''We are pleased to announce that Rainer Kraft has been officially appointed to the role of Sporting Director with Accra Lions Football Club," the club said in a statement on Saturday.

"We are delighted that Rainer Kraft will now be responsible for all football operations at the club in cooperation with our Head coach Bruno Ferry."

Kraft holds a UEFA Pro Coaching Licence and will be an added value to our club as well as being functional to the strategies to be undertaken in our growth path.

He  previously worked with German Bundesliga sides VfB Stuttgart, Schalke 04 and VfL Wolfsburg in various technical positions.
