Fenerbache star Andre Ayew will lead the Black Stars team in camp following the absence of captain Asamoah Gyan.

The 29 year old will lead the team after coach Kwesi Appiah named his squad without captain Asamoah Gyan, who recovered from injury a fortnight ago.

Coach Kwesi Appiah named a 24-man squad that includes five debutantes and others that are making a return to the team after years out.

Ayew will captain the team against Kenya on Sunday.

Gyan returned to action for Turkish side Kayserispor two weeks ago, playing in Kayserispor's games against Rizespor and Instanbul Basaksehir.

Meanwhile, Andre Ayew is having a fine season with Fenerbache since joining on loan from English championship side Swansea City last summer.

Ayew has played 22 games in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring five goals for struggling Fenerbache.

The Black Stars are poised for revenge over Kenya after suffering a narrow defeat to the Eastern Africans last September.

A place at the top of the group is also at stake and a win for Ghana will see them finish leaders.
