Agyeman-Badu handed starting role, Asamoah bench for Udinese Europa tie

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has been benched in Udinese's Uefa Europa League tie against joint leaders Atletico Madrid at the Stadio Friuli.

The 23-year-old was a full-timer in last week's 0-0 draw with Atalanta.

Asamoah is gradually falling down the pecking order and that should be a worry to Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic who wants to use him as a decoy at next year's Nations Cup finals.

Compatriot Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu has been handed a starting role to face the Spaniards.

He has featured prominently for the Little Zebras in this season's competition.

Udinese talisman Antonio Di Natale has been.

Coach Francesco Guidolin was criticised for leaving out his star striker in the last Europa League match against Celtic, but in this case made it clear he had a muscular problem and "If there’s any risk at all then he won’t play.”

Instead, Antonio Floro Flores leads the way and there are considerably more first team players than in Glasgow.

Atletico can count on former Juventus man Diego and Juanfran, but Jose Antonio Reyes is on the bench.

Udinese: Handanovic; Benatia, Danilo, Domizzi; Pereyra, Pinzi, Doubai, Badu, Armero; Abdi; Floro Flores

Udinese bench: Padelli, Basta, Ekstrand, Isla, Asamoah, Di Natale, Fabbrini

Atletico Madrid: Courtois; Perea, Godin, Miranda, Filipe Luis; Paulo Assuncao, Gabi; Pizzi, Diego, Juanfran; Falcao

Atletico bench: Joel, Pulido, Mario Suarez, Tiago, Reyes, Koke, Adrian Lopez
