Ghana U-23 coach picks locals for All African Games

Coach Akwasi Appiah has named his final 20-man squad to compete in next month's All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The squad made up of 17 outfield players and three goalkeepers will travel to South Africa later on Wednesday for a training tour.

No foreign player was however named in the squad after clubs failed to release their assets for the tournament which is not under the Fifa calendar.

Full Squad:

Goalkeepers: Joseph Addo (Heart of Lions), Daniel Agyei (Liberty Professionals) and Collins Addo (New Edubiase United)

Defenders: Augustine Sefa (Medeama), Mohammed Sabato (Asante Kotoko), Edward Kpodo, Ahmed Adams (Berekum Chelsea), Rashid Sumaila (Ebusua Dwarfs), Lawrence Lartey (Nania FC)

Midfielder: Malik Akowuah (AshantiGold), Mumuni Abubakar (New Edubiase), Richard Mpong (Medeama SC), Francis Morton (Liberty Professionals), Sarfo Gyamfi (Wa All Stars), Alhaji Sanie (AshantiGold), Prince Baffoe(Nania FC), Uriah Asante (Pure Joy FC)

Strikers: Gilbert Fiamenyo (Heart of Lions), Mahatma Otoo (Hearts of Oak), Ben Acheampong (Asante Kotoko)

Ghana is drawn in Group B alongside Cameroon, Senegal and Uganda and opens her accounts on September 5 against Senegal.
