Sassuolo star midfielder Alfred Duncan headed off for international football by scoring in their 5-3 home defeat to his former side Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.

The 26-year-old had a stroke of luck to his goal in the 63rd minute when his long-range effort took a huge deflection off Andersen’s ankle to wrong-foot Emil Audero at the base of the near post.

Duncan goal made the scoreline 4-2 but Manolo Gabbiadini ran on to a Linetty assist to place his right-foot angled drive into the far bottom corner for Sampdoria’s fifth.

Deep into stoppages, Khouma Babacar made the scoreline a little less painful for the Neroverdi with a fantastic right-foot curler into the top corner from the edge of the D.

Duncan is expected in Ghana on Monday to join 23 others prepare for next Saturday's final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya at the Accra sports Stadium and a friendly against Mauritania three days later.

He remains one of Ghana's most consistent players abroad.
