ALLEGRI: "OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED"

Published on: 13 December 2018

Juventus' coach Massimiliano Allegri has put this evening’s loss against Young Boys in Bern down as a painless defeat.

“It’s never nice to lose but let’s put it this way: we’ve chosen the least damaging games to do so," the coach began. "We had two objectives, progressing from the group and finishing in first place. We have achieved both and deserved it. Now we focus on the Turin Derby.”

On the game itself, Allegri had words of praise for the Swiss outfit, while weighing up the positives and negatives from his own team.

“Young Boys played really well. We started in the right way but then conceded two goals. We lacked precision and a cool head in front of goal, even though we reacted well.”

The gaffer also commented on Juan Cuadrado’s fitness, after the winger was forced off with injury in the first half.

“He’s probably just taken a knock, but we’ll assess his condition tomorrow. I’m pleased to have Emre Can back. As for which opponent we’ll get in the draw, if it’s a big club then we’ll have a high-level Round of 16 tie.”
