Olympique Marseille star midfielder Andre Ayew is disappointed at his team's inability to win the Ligue 1 title after drawing 2-2 with Valenciennes on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old levelled the scoring for the dethroned champions by blasting home a Valbuena pass in the 34th minute.

But hopes of retaining their title were dashed when Senegalese international Remi Gomis scored for the away side in the 65th minute.

Ayew expressed his delight about Marseille ability to secure automatic qualification for next season's Uefa Champions League but admits the entire squad disappointed the fans all season.

"The title, we knew two weeks ago that it would be difficult. But we kept hoping. Now there is the satisfaction of keeping the second place, but disappointed not to offer a victory to our fans for this last game. That's what we wanted at all costs," Andre said

Ayew has scored 11 goals in 31 appearances for Didier Deschamps' side in all competitions.
